A task schedule is a tool that you can use to give a suggestion about when the client should receive a task to fill out his diary. The setup of your intervention usually states something about how the diary should be used and when and how often it (ideally) should be filled out. As an intervention developer, you want to pass on this knowledge to the users.
You can do this be creating 1 or more suggestions for task schedules.
Examples of task schedules are:
- every Wednesday at 9.00
- every hour between 9.00 and 17.00
How to give your diary a task schedule
- Click on 'Task schedule' in the diary-menu.
- Click on '+Add'
The schedule menu opens (see image below).
How to configure a task schedule
You can configure the following items in a task schedule:
Give your schedule a title (optional)
If you want to, you can give your schedule a title. This can be helpful in distinguishing between different schedules. Examples of titles are: 'daily task schedule', 'weekly task schedule' or 'default task schedule'.
Set the times for your schedule
At what times do you want the client to receive a task to fill out his diary? Choose between:
- a specific time, like 09.00. Click on the '+' if you want to add more than 1 specific time.
- a number of times, between a certain timeframe. For example: give a task every 2 hours from 9.00 to 17.00.
Set the repetition schedule
Here you can choose to repeat the task schedule for the times you have just set. For example: if you want the diary task to appear every Wednesday at 09.00, you select 'specific day' and choose Wednesday.
Set the duration of the schedule (optional)
Optionally you can set the duration of the schedule. For example, if it is important the client does not use this schema diary longer than 3 months, you can say so here.
Choose to show or hide the task schedule from the client
Do you want the client to be able to see the task schedule? Transparency here could be a good thing. The client knows the schedule and could even talk to his therapist about changing the schedule to fit his needs. However, especially if tasks are randomly triggered, it can be important for the success of the intervention to not tell the client when he will be asked to fill out his diary. So think about this carefully.
Give the task a notification that the client sees (optional)
In this field you can give the task a name that is shown to the client when he is asked to fill out his diary. This possibility is especially interesting if you want to focus on a specific behaviour or skill. For example, you could make a task schedule for 1 month where the message is 'take a walk'. You could also make a schedule for 1 month with the message 'be compassionate'. Think about what could fit your intervention.
A default task schedule
Once you saved your schedule you return to the overview of task schedules for this diary. Here, you can choose to use one of your task schedules as a 'default'. With default meaning; the most highly recommended task schedule. You can also choose to not have a default task schedule, even if you have created more than 1 schedules for this diary.
More than 1 task schedule
It can be useful to give a different task schedule for different users in your target group. For instance, a more intense task schedules could fit a more intense treatment. Whereas a more low-level task schedule could fit a group of people who are in after care. However, it is possible to choose 1 default task schedule. This way you can make clear which schedule is generally advised.
How a schedule is activated
By a therapist
Keep in mind that the therapist is leading in choosing a task schedule. If you have created one for your diary it is still the therapist who decides to use it for his client or not. The therapist has 3 choices:
- He chooses not to use a task schedule at all
- He chooses to use 1 or more of the suggested task schedules
- He creates 1 or more task schedules himself fitting the treatment of his client
By a trigger
When a diary is added by a trigger the default task schedule is added to a client's diary. If no default is set, no task schedule is added to a client's diary.
