I need help with choosing a password

It is important to be careful with your password so that others cannot access your data. Below you can read a number of tips to help you with this:

  • Use a strong password

First, make sure you have a ‘strong’ password. Strong passwords are difficult for computers to guess or hack. You can make your password stronger by using numbers, capital letters and other special characters (such as question marks or exclamation marks) in addition to normal letters.

  • Use a password generator

The more unpredictable you make your password, the stronger it is. You can use an online password generator to help you create a strong password. You can specify the requirements of your password. An example of a password generator is LastPass generator(Opens in new window).

  • Use a password manager

It would be safest to use a different strong password for each account. To help you to remember all of these passwords, you could use a password manager on your computer, laptop, tablet or mobile. With a password manager, all of your passwords are stored securely. Many of these password managers can also generate strong passwords for you. An example of a password manager is LastPass manager(Opens in new window).

  • Create a passphrase

Passphrases are good if you have a hard time remembering complicated passwords. Phrases are easier to remember and they are long, which makes them difficult to crack. In addition, make sure they are unpredictable. A password phrase like "IDrink3CoffeePerDay!" is reasonably predictable and easier to crack than, for example, a password phrase like "IDrink3CoffeePerDay!ButIAlsoDrink2Tea!".

  • Change your password regularly

It is recommended that you change your password regularly to protect your personal data. It is especially important to do this immediately if you think your password has been guessed by a person or computer.

My account is deactivated

When your account is deactivated, it means that your account is inactive and you cannot log in to it. Your data has not been deleted. You can ask the application manager(s) or helpdesk to reactivate the account.
